This family history is the story of the family of Michael James (MJ) O'Connor and Elizabeth Marion (Bessie) Clancey of Terang.The O'Connor family lived for almost forty years, between the early 1900s and 1942, at Uffington, an historic bluestone homestead on the outskirts of Terang in South West Victoria.MJ & Bessie O'Connor had 12 children with 11 surviving to adulthood. This book records the lives of each of these children and includes extensive family trees, photographs and documents.The O'Connor family lived through Federation, two World Wars and the Depression as well as times of peace, economic security and political changes. It highlights a movement away from earning a living from the land as farmers and graziers and the movement of this generation into professional and commercial careers/occupations. It also illustrates the changing role of women and their participation in the paid workforce as well as the impact of a good education.This is one family's story set in South West Victoria last century.
